You can absolutely see Heavies and Assaults on two skull missions when you're not ready for that. Stay on lower difficulty missions for longer. Melee and support weapons both ignore some evasion.

Enemy fast movers will have super high evasion and shooting at them doesn't strip it. Sensor lock is super valuable early when your pilots suck. I'm of the opinion that the random spawns add massive amounts of replay value, but it's quirky at times. Some random thoughts from someone who's no expert.īad spawns like your third campaign are definitely a valid reason to quit out of the mission and restart it. It's definitely harder than the base game, especially starting out. There's loads of friendly people who can help you out, including the people who work on the mod. You should swing by the 3062 mod's discord server. So don't do that, especially when you have only 8GB of RAM (at lower available memory, I'd expect the resource unloading to happen more often). Very frustrating especially after a long, tedious, hard-won victory. The reason: when you "restart mission", the unity game engine sometimes unloads resources it would have needed for the after mission debrief screens -> you sweat and bleed through the mission, only to run into the background of the debriefing screen, but no stats ever show, and the game sits there. If you want to restart a mission, don't use the "restart mission" menu item. Not as critical in BTA as in the base game because you can run and gun here, but still worth having to quickly ascend to higher ground (see above). Medium lasers in BTA do 20 damage, so I try to go with multiples of that, as my rule of thumb. If it's a long range mech, go on to peel armor from the back. If you want to lower your armor to fit more guns, first max out the armor, then add the equip, then start by lowering armor on the legs. As long as you stick with dropping stuff and adding/rearranging armor, these modifications are instant (0 days). I'd rather run with 1-2 MLs and max armor. even locusts do a lot better once you max out their armor, even at the cost of fewer/weaker weapons. If you have a Vindicator, drop the LRM5 and ammo, max out your armor, etc. Don't go there until you have better mechs and/or can drop more of them yourself.Īrmor up your mechs! You're outnumbered most of the time, so armor is life! If you get a Jenner, drop the SRM4 and ammo, put the tonnage into more armor. Your third campaign: I only ever ran into that mission in clan space. Dropping with six mechs is a lot different than dropping with four or five. If you add in bulwark and, for example, jump from place to place on a high ridgeline, you're going to take A LOT LESS DAMAGE than if you walked around the bottom with the enemy up top. High ground offers a bonus to your to hit, and lowers the enemy's chance to hit you. Stick with lower difficulty missions for longer.Īlways seek to take the high ground. Reloading and replaying this missionįor now, forget the career score. Talos did a precision shot w ac10 and srm 6 which should have been enough to kill the urbie but the urbie survived and did a one shot on the talos which died and couldn’t be salvaged. RNGesus wasn’t on my side: the talos was heads up w an urbie with an ac20. Managed to salvage a talos and killed off a mist lynx for some clan tech (it was a random enemy v enemy mission and having wolf clan just drop it sent my heart racing).

I really am trying to love this mod (because I adore Clan mechs) and I would appreciate tips on how I could hopefully play the game right.

Went on a full blown melee brawl and miraculously won with only 1 mech dying because of a LBX 10 Hollander shot to the back.įourth campaign: (In mission 1) Took out a lance of mechs only to have 3 vehicles core 2 mechs and down a third. Played an attack the base mission and I spawned right beside the turrets and all the opponent mechs had their guns pointed at me from turn 1. Third campaign: Managed to get 2 games in and even salvaged a griffin. Got swarmed down even with a scoot and shoot tactic. Thought I was playing the game wrong did some research decided to do more sprints and long range run and gun. I found myself restarting career 3 times and am finally throwing in the towel on the game mechanics.įirst campaign: died from a Stalker crushing everything. Tried BT 3062 with a lot of excitement as I am a clanner in my heart of hearts and no battletech game is complete without the clan.
